n8n or Make? An honest answer for lead automation

LATYNEX Digital · Published 1 Aug 2026

Both move data between tools. The real difference is hosting model and flow complexity, not raw capability.

The core difference: hosting model

n8n is self-hostable — you (or LATYNEX, on your behalf) own the infrastructure, which matters for data-residency-sensitive businesses. Make is cloud-only, which is simpler to stand up but means your data flows through Make's infrastructure.

Flow complexity and visual design

Make's visual flow builder is generally considered more approachable for simpler flows; n8n's node-based approach scales better for complex, branching logic once a workflow gets non-trivial. Neither is universally "easier" — it depends on the flow's actual complexity.

Where either becomes the wrong tool

Both are automation platforms — neither does lead qualification or judgment on its own. If the real need is deciding whether a lead is a fit (not just moving data), see When Does a Company Not Need an AI Agent and AI Sales Agent vs Traditional Chatbot for that separate question.

Cost considerations

n8n's self-hosted cost is infrastructure (hosting) plus setup; Make's cost is a subscription tied to operation volume. At high volume, self-hosted n8n can end up cheaper; at low-to-moderate volume, Make's subscription is often simpler to justify.

Questions

Which one does LATYNEX recommend by default?+

Neither by default — the choice depends on hosting preference, flow complexity and volume, decided during a Revenue Audit.

Can I switch from one to the other later?+

Yes, though migrating an existing flow is real work — worth choosing deliberately upfront rather than assuming an easy switch.

Does either one qualify leads automatically?+

No — both move data on rules you define. Qualification judgment needs an AI layer or a person.
