Website against sources

A French company, its own statements tested.

A counterparty describes itself on a website, in a brochure and in a quotation. For a French counterparty the review lists those statements and sets each against the sources, so the report shows which are supported, which differ and which no source settles.

The review question

Does the business the website describes match what the sources show?

The website's statements are listed one by one: what the company does, where it operates, how it presents itself. Each is set beside the sources. A statement a cited source confirms is a verified fact. A company's own statement that no independent source confirms is described as the company's own statement and carries the class unavailable until one does.

What the sources establish

National register and operator

INPI states that the State designated it as operator of the Registre national des entreprises (RNE), which replaces the Registre national du commerce et des societes, the Repertoire des metiers and the Registre des actifs agricoles.

02

Free distribution of register data

INPI states that RNE information is distributed free of charge on DATA INPI and that anyone may consult the public data of the RNE.

What to send and what to expect

What to send and what to expect

The address of the website

With the proposal or quotation you hold, so the review reads what the counterparty showed you.

Ownership questions

The report states only what a cited source shows about ownership and marks the item unavailable where no cited source shows it.

Beyond the website

Public commercial reputation is reviewed as a separate part of the report, with its own sources.

Step by step

From statements to findings

01

List the statements

The website and public pages are read, and what they state about the business is written down.

02

Look for support

Official or registry records are read first, then the company's own material, then third-party and platform material.

03

Separate the outcomes

Each statement is recorded as supported, as differing from a source, or as not shown by any source reviewed.

04

Write the marked findings

Findings are verified fact, inference, unavailable or client-provided, with the source log.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What if the website says something no source confirms?+

It is described as the company's own statement and carries the class unavailable until an independent source confirms it.

Will the report name the owners?+

Only what a cited source shows. Where no cited source shows it, the item is recorded as unavailable.

Do I need to know the registration number?+

No. The name is enough to start, and the review reports which entry it matched.
