A supplier can look entirely in order on paper and still turn out to be different in person, and a visit can feel reassuring and miss a registry entry that tells another story. The two ways of checking answer different questions. This page sets out what a desk review of a supplier can show, what only a visit can, and what you should arrange yourself if the decision needs the second. LATYNEX Research does desk research; it does not visit premises.
If the doubt is whether the company exists as described, whether its registration, website and trade presence agree, a desk review answers it from sources you can cite. If the doubt is whether there is a working production line, what the premises look like or how goods are handled, only a visit can show that. For a large commitment the two are complementary, and the desk review can be done first so that a visit, which you arrange yourself, is spent on what the records could not settle.
Where a visit is needed, the report's open points make a ready list of what to look at.
General description. Scope is agreed before the review, and its limits are listed in the report.
| Question | Desk research | Site visit |
|---|---|---|
| What can be seen | Registry entries, licence records, website and domain, trade listings | Premises, equipment, stock, people at work |
| What it cannot show | Conditions on the ground and what happens in production | Whether the registration records agree with the website and trade presence |
| Who carries it out | LATYNEX Research, from the desk | A party you or the buyer appoint; outside this service |
| How findings are recorded | Classed as verified fact, inference, unavailable or client-provided, each with a source | As the visitor reports them |
| Risk of relying on it alone | A real address can be a mail drop and the sources may not say | A staged visit can look right while the record does not match |
| Good moment to use | Before any commitment, as the first filter | When the desk review leaves open points that matter to the decision |
An on-site visit, inspection or audit is not part of LATYNEX Research and no report implies one.
A desk review tests whether the supplier is what it says before the order is placed.
Desk review first to settle the records, then a visit arranged by the buyer for what records cannot show.
The desk review can narrow which candidates justify the cost of a visit at all.
Research reports what can be established from public and provided sources. It is not a guarantee about a counterparty's future conduct and not legal advice.
No. LATYNEX Research is desk research and does not include visits or inspections.
It can show what a supplier states and holds in certificates, and what sources say. Quality in practice is not shown.
Open points are listed so you can decide whether a visit is worth arranging.
