Go or no-go evidence

A go or no-go call needs evidence it can lean on.

This page is for the person who has to sign off and wants to see what stands behind each assumption. We assemble the evidence and label its quality. We do not make the decision.

The decision question

Which assumptions does my go case rest on, and what do the sources show about each?

We begin by writing down the assumptions your go case depends on, for example that buyers already purchase this category from outside suppliers, or that an intermediary exists who can carry the product. Each assumption becomes a question the evidence has to answer. The evidence is then mapped to those questions.

Where the sources cannot answer a question, that is reported as unavailable. A hole in the evidence is itself something a decision-maker needs to see.

Where the answer depends on who is asking

Where the answer depends on who is asking

A founder testing a single market

The pack concentrates on whether a demand and a channel are visible at all, since a missing channel would bear directly on the decision.

A board choosing between expansion and standing still

Evidence is organised so the cost of waiting can be discussed, and the unavailable items are listed as risks to be accepted or investigated.

A manager who already leans towards go

Evidence that contradicts the preferred answer is set beside the evidence that supports it.

What the pack does not do

What the pack does not do

It does not say go or no-go

Weighing evidence against your risk appetite, structure and jurisdiction belongs to a separate decision-support service.

It does not forecast

Findings describe what the reviewed sources show now. Projections and business plans are outside the pack.

It does not cover the whole market

It reports what was found in reviewed sources, which can miss players that publish little.

Step by step

How the evidence is built up

The sequence matters because each stage limits what the next one can claim.

01

Turn the case into testable assumptions

Your go case is split into statements that sources could support or contradict. Vague statements are sharpened with you before any collection starts.

02

Choose the source types per assumption

A claim about competitors is tested against company sites and trade listings; a claim about buyer behaviour against tender notices, association material and published reports. Official statistics are used for market size where they exist.

03

Collect and classify each finding

Every finding is marked as a verified fact, an inference we drew, unavailable, or client-provided. Your own figures stay client-provided and are not independently checked.

04

Set the evidence against the assumptions

Each assumption is shown with what supports it, what cuts against it and what could not be established, so the weak points are visible before the decision.

Good to know

What this is, and isn't

Research reports what can be established from public and provided sources. It is not a guarantee about a counterparty's future conduct and not legal advice.

After the evidence

Need help deciding what to do with the findings?

A research pack collects and structures evidence and stops before the decision. Whether and how to enter the market is a separate assessment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the decision questions in advance?+

A rough statement of the decision is enough. The first stage turns it into specific questions with you.

What if the evidence points both ways?+

It is presented that way, with each side sourced. We do not smooth a mixed picture into a single conclusion.

Can the pack replace an advisory opinion on entering?+

No. It supplies the commercial evidence such an opinion would use, and stops before the opinion.
