Machine tools are sold as a base model plus a configuration: controller, spindle, magazine, probe, coolant, software options. Two quotes for the same model name may not include the same set. This page describes how an RFQ pins the configuration down and how the answers are compared option by option.
The drafted RFQ asks each supplier you send it to to answer against one configuration table that lists every axis, controller option, tooling interface and accessory you need. The comparison is then done row by row. An item that a supplier lists as optional is moved into the quote's total only when you say you need it, so totals stay comparable.
Where one supplier has bundled several options under a package name, the package is unpacked into its rows when the quote shows the contents.
Travel, table, number of axes and spindle speed class as the supplier states them.
Controller brand and version, programming options and any licence the quote lists separately.
Tool magazine capacity, tool interface and the clamping items included or priced as extras.
Probes, pallet or bar feeders and chip handling, recorded as present, optional or absent.
Requirements the supplier states for floor, power and coolant, so they are visible before purchase.
Compatibility with existing tooling and programmes is weighted ahead of options it will never use.
Interface signals and automation options are mandatory rows; other features score below them.
Documentation, language of the controller and conformity papers are brought forward.
A part or test cut that you define is written into the RFQ, so acceptance is described the same way in every answer. Arranging the test itself is yours.
Manuals, parts catalogues and language, as offered.
What the quote includes for operator training and who provides service, stated by the supplier.

We compare what suppliers state; measured performance is for an acceptance test you arrange.
The summary gives a recommendation with its assumptions; the choice stays yours.
