Wholesale and stock

Finding the firms that hold the stock, not the ones that list it.

A reseller does not need a factory; it needs a firm that holds goods and will sell them in the quantities the reseller can move. The question here is who actually stocks the range, on what stated terms, and whether the entity behind a wholesale page owns inventory or only passes orders upstream. You receive a shortlist of stockholding candidates, a matrix of their stated terms and a source log.

The decision question

Who holds this stock and sells it on terms a reseller can use?

A wholesale page can look like any other, so the research reads past it. We look for signs of holding: a published warehouse or showroom address, a catalogue that changes with availability, stated brand authorisations and trade-account terms. Brokers and drop-shippers are not excluded as such; they are labelled, because the reseller's exposure is different when the stock is held by someone else.

Brand authorisation claims are listed as claims, with the brand owner named as the party to ask. We do not confirm a distribution relationship from outside.

What separates a stockist from a listing

What separates a stockist from a listing

Own premises and inventory signals

Address type, catalogue behaviour and stated stock levels are noted as the company's own statement and stay unavailable as verified fact until an independent source confirms them.

Brand and range authorisation

Whether the firm presents itself as authorised, parallel-supplied or unbranded, and what documentation it says it can show.

Trade terms

Account opening requirements, minimum basket and returns terms as published, with a note where only a login area carries them.

Resale situations that change the search

Resale situations that change the search

A boutique reseller buying selected lines

Small baskets matter more than breadth, so published minimums are the first filter.

A shop chain consolidating several lines

The matrix emphasises range depth and whether one stockist can cover several categories.

A reseller wanting branded goods only

Authorisation claims drive the screen and the open-points list asks the brand owner's channel for confirmation.

Research reports what can be established from public and provided sources. It is not a guarantee about a counterparty's future conduct and not legal advice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this different from a manufacturer search?+

Yes. The screening asks whether the firm holds stock and sells on, not whether it makes the product.

Can you confirm a stockist is an authorised dealer?+

No. We report the claim and name who can confirm it, such as the brand owner.

Do you buy the stock for me?+

No. The service ends at the shortlist and matrix.
