Existence check

Is there a registered company behind the name?

Some supplier approaches are a name, a logo and a bank account. The question here is the simplest one: is there a legally registered entity whose recorded details match what you were given, and is its status current in the register?

The decision question

Is there an entity behind this name at all?

Existence is established from the register, not from a website. We locate the entry that matches the number, legal name and address you hold, read its status and recorded activity, and report whether each detail matches. Where no entry is found, the report says that no entry was found in the sources searched and lists the searches made, which is a different statement from saying the company does not exist.

This is a narrower question than a full review of consistency and red flags. It stops at registration status and the match between what you hold and what is recorded.

Outcomes the report can reach

Outcomes the report can reach

One entry, details match

The legal name, number and address in the register equal those in your paperwork. Reported as a verified fact with the register cited, and nothing more is inferred from it.

One entry, details differ

The entity exists but with a different address, a slightly different name, or another status. Each difference is listed with both values so you can ask the supplier to explain it.

No entry found

Reported with the searches tried, spelling variants and any number format issues. Recorded as unavailable, not as proof of absence, because records may be in another script or another register.

Several similar entries

Possible with generic names. The report lays out the candidates and what distinguishes them, and asks you to confirm which one you were dealing with.

Situations where the answer is not obvious

Situations where the answer is not obvious

A supplier trading under a brand

Invoices come from a different legal entity than the brand on the website. The check follows the invoicing entity, since that is who you contract and pay.

A supplier with a recently recorded entry

A young record is noted as such. It is a fact about the record, not a conclusion about the business, and the report keeps the two apart.

A supplier whose number came from an intermediary

A number passed on by a third party is client-provided until it is matched to a register entry, and the report says whether the entry carries the same legal name.

What this check does not establish

What this check does not establish

That the entity operates

A registered company may be dormant or may outsource everything. Registration does not show activity.

That the person you are talking to represents it

Public records can list officers; they cannot show that the individual on your call is one of them.

Anything about its finances

Existence and status only. Credit rating is not part of this service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is an entry in a register proof the supplier is legitimate?+

It is proof that a registered entity exists with those recorded details. Whether it is a suitable counterparty is a separate judgement.

What if the number I was given does not resolve?+

The report records that, tries the name and address routes, and lists the outcome of each.

Do you check the individuals involved?+

Only company roles that appear in public registers, never personal backgrounds.
