Supplier verification for printed packaging

Printed packaging: one supplier name, at least three different capabilities behind it.

A packaging quotation may come from the company that converts the board or film, from a printer who buys blanks, or from a broker who outsources both. Evidence offered ranges from material statements to print proofs and food-contact declarations. The review separates these roles and looks at what each document really shows about the company that will produce your order.

The decision question

Which parts of my packaging will this company make itself, and do its documents cover those parts?

The review begins with the structure you specified: material, construction, print process and finishing. The supplier's own equipment and process statements are then compared with what public records and independent mentions suggest. Documents about materials and food contact are read for the company and the material named, since a document may belong to the material maker and not to the converter.

A statement about a coating or board grade from the mill is recorded as the mill's, not the converter's.

The review does not judge print quality, test migration or decide what suits your product's regulations.

What is established for each element of a packaging job

What is established for each element of a packaging job

Rows follow the job from material to finished carton or pouch.

Material and board or film grade

Source and grade as the company states them. Where a mill is named, it is looked up separately and its statements are kept apart from the converter's.

Printing and finishing capability

Process names, press descriptions and finishing options stated by the company, then compared with any independent trade or exhibitor description.

Food-contact or safety statements

The company's own statements. The review records whether the supplier cites a document and whom it names as issuer.

Forest or recycled-content labels

Where claimed, the label's chain-of-custody holder is looked up in the scheme's listing if public. A label tied to the mill is not carried over to the converter.

Artwork and tooling ownership

Who holds plates, dies and files is listed as an open point. Public sources may not answer it.

Company record and plant

Registered entity, address and continuity with the size and history stated.

Scenarios and what each leads with

Scenarios and what each leads with

A food start-up ordering a first short run of printed pouches

Converter versus broker is the first finding, then whether the material statements belong to the film maker or to the printer.

A cosmetic brand changing carton supplier for a relaunch

Finishing capability and artwork handover are the focus; identity is checked briefly if the supplier is already established.

A distributor buying generic printed bags in volume

Plant identity and consistency of the company record matter most, as the product is simple and documents few.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you assess print or material quality?+

No. We review the company and its documents, not the packaging itself.

Can you confirm a material is suitable for food contact?+

No. We record what the supplier states and whom it names as issuer of supporting documents.

If a broker quoted me, does the review find the printer?+

Only where a reviewed source names the producing company or site. Otherwise the point is reported as unavailable.
