Freight Options

How to Ship From China to Canada

Air or sea — the right mode depends on your timeline, cargo weight and budget. Vancouver is the fastest sea-freight gateway from China; Montreal serves eastern Canada via longer all-water routing.

Air Freight — 4–8 Days (airport-to-airport)

From major Chinese airports to Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. Airport-to-airport transit — CBSA customs clearance and final delivery are separate and confirmed at quote stage. Best for time-sensitive, high-value or low-weight cargo.

Sea Freight — From 14 Days (port-to-port)

FCL to Vancouver: 14–18 days port-to-port, the shortest trans-Pacific crossing to North America. A longer door-area routing (~22–30 days) applies for eastern Canada (Toronto/Montreal) via onward domestic rail. CBSA customs clearance and final delivery are not included in the port-to-port figure. Most cost-effective for regular volume cargo.

Amazon FBA Canada

Delivery to Amazon Canada fulfilment centres. FNSKU labeling, carton compliance checks and box content upload to Seller Central included. DDP availability confirmed per shipment.

Express Air — 3–5 Days

Urgent shipments via express air courier. Samples, replacement stock and time-critical consignments delivered door-to-door across Canada in 3–5 days from Shenzhen or Shanghai.

DDP — Available on Request

Canada is outside our currently listed DDP destinations. Where DDP is arranged, Canadian import duty and GST can be pre-paid as part of the quote, subject to shipment structure and confirmation — contact us with your commodity and destination details.

CBSA Customs Documentation

Commercial invoice, packing list, CBSA import declaration and tariff classification are handled as part of our arranged customs process where DDP applies. Current applicable duty and GST confirmed before you book.

FCL — Full Container Load

Your cargo fills an entire container and travels without being mixed with other shippers' goods — typically fastest via Vancouver. Suits larger or regular shipment volumes.

LCL — Less Than Container Load

Your cargo shares a container with other shippers' goods and you pay only for the space you use, including consolidation/deconsolidation steps — useful for smaller, regular shipments under 5 CBM.

The Process

How China to Canada Shipping Works

Eight stages from your Chinese supplier to final delivery in Canada — all managed by Latynex, with CBSA customs handled as its own process.

1

Request a quote with your cargo details

Send us your supplier's collection address in China, cargo description, weight and dimensions, Canadian destination address and preferred freight mode. We confirm mode availability, DDP scope if relevant, and the quote.

2

Supplier collection from China

Our China-based team collects from your supplier's factory or warehouse anywhere in mainland China. Multi-supplier consolidation is available.

3

China export warehouse and consolidation

Cargo arrives at our China export warehouse. For FBA shipments, FNSKU labeling and carton prep are completed here.

4

Export customs clearance in China

We prepare and file Chinese export documentation and clear cargo for export at the relevant Chinese port or airport.

5

International transit: air or sea

Your cargo travels via your agreed mode. Air: 4–8 days airport-to-airport to a Canadian gateway airport. Sea: 14–18 days port-to-port to Vancouver; eastern Canada (Toronto/Montreal) via onward domestic rail runs longer, approximately 22–30 days door area.

6

Arrival at Canadian gateway

Cargo arrives at a Canadian gateway airport (air) or the Port of Vancouver (sea). Vancouver-arriving cargo destined for central/eastern Canada may continue by domestic rail.

7

CBSA import customs clearance

The import declaration is filed with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Where DDP is arranged, Canadian duty and GST are paid on your behalf; for DAP, we notify you of the amount for self-payment.

8

Final delivery to your Canadian address

Cleared cargo is delivered to your specified address: warehouse, office, or 3PL/Amazon fulfilment centre.

Transit & Cost

China → Canada: Transit Time and Cost Guide

Indicative rates for the China–Canada corridor. Air and sea figures below are port-to-port/airport-to-airport — they do not include CBSA customs clearance or final delivery. DDP availability is confirmed per shipment. Exact quotes depend on cargo details and current market rates.

DDP Cost Guide — China → CanadaIndicative ranges
ModeTransitDDP Cost RangeBest For
Air Freight4–8 days (airport-to-airport)$9–22 / kgUrgent, high-value, low weight
Sea LCL18–30 days (port-to-port)$3.5–6.5 / kgUnder 5 CBM, mixed or flexible cargo
Sea FCL (20ft) to Vancouver14–18 days (port-to-port)$1.6–4 / kgOver 10 CBM, regular container volume
Express Air3–5 days (door-to-door)$22–48 / kgSamples, urgent restock, time-critical

All figures are indicative ranges. Sea FCL (14–18 days) is port-to-port to Vancouver specifically — eastern Canada (Toronto/Montreal) via onward domestic rail is longer, approximately 22–30 days door area. No customs/delivery add-on is published for Canada, so none is estimated here — CBSA clearance and final delivery are confirmed separately at quote stage. Canadian import duty and GST depend on product classification and shipment structure — confirmed before booking, and not automatically included unless DDP is confirmed available for your shipment. Fuel surcharges, capacity and seasonal rate changes apply. Contact Latynex for a specific quote.

CBSA Customs

Importing Into Canada — What You Need to Know

A practical guide to Canadian import requirements for businesses shipping from China — duty, GST, product-specific surtaxes and de minimis explained.

Canadian Import Duty (MFN)

Canada applies Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff treatment to goods from China — there is no Canada–China free trade agreement. Customs duty depends on the product's tariff classification, origin and the applicable Customs Tariff rate. We confirm your product's exact classification and current duty rate before quoting, never a generic percentage.

GST — Charged on the Duty-Paid Value

Federal GST is charged at 5% on most commercial imports — calculated on the goods' value plus duty, not on the goods value alone. Several provinces use HST (a combined federal/provincial rate) instead of GST, and PST may apply separately in some provinces — the exact combined rate depends on the destination province and is confirmed per shipment, not stated as one universal figure. This is general information, not tax advice.

Chinese EV / Steel / Aluminum Surtaxes

The former 100% surtax on Chinese-made electric vehicles was repealed effective March 1, 2026 and replaced with an annual import quota — qualifying EVs now pay the standard 6.1% MFN tariff instead. Separately, certain steel and aluminum products with specific Chinese-origin content may still be subject to a 25% surtax under a distinct, narrowly scoped measure. Neither applies to general commercial cargo. We confirm current applicable rates before quoting if your commodity is in scope.

De Minimis (CAD $20) — Not for Commercial Freight

Canada's low-value de minimis (CAD $20, duty/tax-free) applies to non-commercial or postal shipments. Commercial freight shipments — the type Latynex arranges — are subject to CBSA duty and GST assessment regardless of declared value.

Canadian customs and tax information is for guidance only. GST, HST/PST treatment and MFN duty rates vary by product, shipment structure and destination province. Latynex confirms exact duty and tax amounts for every quote from your product's tariff classification — we do not estimate. This page is for general orientation only and does not constitute legal, customs or tax advice.
