Freight Options

How to Ship From China to USA

Air and sea freight from any Chinese city to the United States — both modes available with DDP delivery, ISF filing and CBP customs clearance handled by Latynex.

Air Freight — 6–14 Days

Direct air freight from Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX) and Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) to major US gateways: Los Angeles (LAX), New York JFK, Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and San Francisco (SFO). Best for time-sensitive, high-value or low-weight shipments.

Sea Freight — 25–40 Days

FCL (20ft / 40ft / 40HC) and LCL from Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Yantian/Shekou) and Guangzhou (Nansha) to Long Beach, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Seattle/Tacoma and Savannah. Most cost-effective for regular volume cargo.

Amazon FBA USA

Direct delivery to Amazon US fulfilment centres. FNSKU labeling, carton compliance, palletisation and partnered-carrier booking included. DDP available — US import duties pre-paid by Latynex so your FBA shipment lands without additional charges.

Express Air — 3–5 Days

Urgent shipments via express air courier. Samples, replacement stock and time-critical consignments delivered door-to-door across the US in 3–5 days from Shenzhen or Shanghai. Suitable for shipments where air freight lead times are not fast enough.

DDP — Duties Pre-Paid

US import duty, CBP customs fees and ISF filing pre-paid by Latynex under DDP. No customs broker required on your side. One all-inclusive landed cost quote before cargo leaves China. Available on air and sea freight.

US Customs Documentation

ISF (10+2) filing, commercial invoice, packing list, CBP entry and customs bond — all prepared and filed by our US customs broker. Section 301 tariff classification confirmed before you book. Applicable for both air and sea shipments.

The Process

How China to USA Shipping Works

Eight stages from your Chinese supplier to final delivery in the United States — all managed by Latynex.

China-to-USA freight involves two customs clearances — export in China and import with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — plus ISF filing and, for most Chinese-origin goods, Section 301 tariff classification. Each stage has documentation requirements that differ by mode. Latynex manages all of this as a single service so that your cargo moves without gaps or handoff failures between parties.

1

Quote request with cargo and HS code details

Send us your supplier's collection address in China, cargo description, weight and dimensions, US delivery address and preferred freight mode. We confirm the HTS code classification, calculate applicable Section 301 tariffs and US import duty, then send an all-in DDP or DAP quote.

2

Supplier collection from China

Our China-based team collects from your supplier's factory or warehouse anywhere in mainland China. We photograph and count goods at pickup. Multi-supplier consolidation is available — we combine cargo from several factories into one shipment before export.

3

ISF filing — 24 hours before vessel loading

For ocean freight shipments, US Customs and Border Protection requires ISF (Importer Security Filing, also known as '10+2') to be filed at least 24 hours before cargo is loaded at the Chinese port. Our US-licensed customs broker files the ISF using your shipment and supplier data. Late ISF filing can result in CBP penalties.

4

China export warehouse and FBA prep

Cargo arrives at our China export warehouse. For FBA shipments: FNSKU labeling per unit, carton compliance checks, box content uploads to Seller Central. For standard shipments: quantities verified, export documentation prepared. Commercial invoice and packing list are finalised at this stage.

5

Export customs clearance in China

Our China team files the export customs declaration at the origin port or airport. Cargo is cleared for export and loaded onto the agreed vessel or flight. You receive a bill of lading or airway bill with tracking references once the shipment departs.

6

International freight: air or sea

Your cargo travels to the US via your agreed mode. Air: 6–14 days to LAX, JFK, ORD or SFO. Sea LCL/FCL: 25–40 days to Long Beach, LA, New York/NJ, Seattle or Savannah. We provide tracking updates at each milestone.

7

US CBP import customs clearance

Our US-licensed customs broker files the CBP entry when cargo arrives at the US port or airport. For DDP shipments, Latynex pays all applicable import duties, Section 301 tariffs and CBP processing fees directly. For DAP shipments, we notify you of the duty amount for self-payment. Customs bond coverage is included.

8

Final delivery to your US address

Cleared cargo is collected by domestic carrier and delivered to your warehouse, Amazon FBA fulfilment centre, 3PL or any US business address. For Amazon FBA, we book the partnered-carrier delivery appointment and manage the handoff to the Amazon dock. Residential delivery is available on request.

Transit & Cost

China → USA: Transit Times and DDP Cost Guide

Indicative all-in DDP rates for the China–USA corridor — freight, US import duty, applicable Section 301 tariffs, ISF filing, CBP fees and last-mile delivery included. Exact quotes depend on cargo details and current market rates.

DDP Cost Guide — China → USA (DDP, all-in)Indicative ranges
ModeTransitDDP Cost RangeBest For
Air Freight + DDP6–14 days$8–20 / kgUrgent, high-value, low weight
Sea LCL + DDP30–42 days$3–6 / kgUnder 5 CBM, mixed or flexible cargo
Sea FCL (20ft) + DDP25–40 days$1.5–3.5 / kgOver 10 CBM, regular container volume
Express Air3–5 days$20–45 / kgSamples, urgent restock, time-critical

All figures are indicative ranges including freight, US import duty, Section 301 tariffs (where applicable), ISF filing, CBP processing fees and delivery. Import duty and Section 301 tariff rates depend on your product's HTS code and are confirmed before booking. Freight rates vary with market conditions, fuel surcharges and port congestion. Contact Latynex for a specific quote.

Air vs sea — choosing the right mode: Air freight delivers in 6–14 days and is the right choice for high-value cargo, time-sensitive restocks and shipments where stock-out cost exceeds the freight premium. Sea freight is the default for regular high-volume importers where 25–40 day transit is acceptable — the per-unit cost advantage over air is significant for heavy or bulky goods. Note that Section 301 tariff costs are the same regardless of freight mode — they are determined by your product classification, not how it travels.

DDP vs DAP

DDP vs DAP Shipping to USA — What's the Difference?

For most importers without an established US customs broker, DDP is the correct choice. Here is how the two Incoterms compare for China–USA shipments.

DDP — Latynex Pre-Pays All
DAP — Buyer Manages Import
CBP customs entry filed by
Latynex (our US broker)
Buyer (appoint own broker)
US import duty payment
Pre-paid by Latynex
Billed to buyer on arrival
Section 301 tariff payment
Pre-paid by Latynex
Billed to buyer on arrival
ISF (10+2) filing
Filed by Latynex broker
Buyer must file or appoint filer
Customs bond required
Covered by Latynex
Buyer must obtain bond
Total landed cost upfront
Yes — single all-in quote
No — freight separate from duties
US importer of record
Latynex acts as IOR
Buyer acts as IOR
Best when
No US customs broker, first US imports, FBA, or total cost clarity needed
Established importer with US customs bond and in-house customs team

Under US DDP, Latynex acts as the Importer of Record (IOR) and pays all CBP duties and fees upfront. Under DAP, the buyer is the IOR and is responsible for appointing a US customs broker, obtaining a customs bond and paying all duties directly. For first-time US importers and Amazon FBA sellers, DDP removes significant administrative complexity.

US Customs

Importing Into the USA — What You Need to Know

A practical guide to US import requirements for businesses shipping from China — duties, Section 301 tariffs, ISF filing and de minimis rules explained.

US Import Duties (HTS)

US import duties are classified using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). Rates vary by product category. Most electronics: 0–3.5% MFN rate. Clothing and textiles: 5–32%. Industrial machinery: 0–3.7%. Note: Section 301 tariffs apply additionally to most goods of Chinese origin — these are separate from standard HTS rates and can be significant.

Section 301 Tariffs on Chinese Goods

Section 301 tariffs are additional duties applied to most Chinese-origin goods under US trade law. Rates depend on product classification: List 1, 2 and 3 goods attract an additional 25%; List 4A goods attract 7.5%. Combined with standard HTS duty, total duty on some Chinese products can reach 35%+. We confirm your applicable Section 301 rate before quoting.

ISF Filing and CBP Bond

All ocean shipments to the US require ISF (Importer Security Filing, '10+2') filed with CBP at least 24 hours before vessel departure from China. A CBP customs bond is required to file the import entry — either a single-entry bond or a continuous bond. Our US-licensed customs broker handles both as part of every sea freight shipment.

De Minimis Threshold — $800

Goods shipped to the US with a declared value under $800 may qualify for de minimis entry (Section 321), meaning no formal CBP entry or import duty applies. However, Section 301 tariffs are not automatically waived under de minimis rules for all product categories. Commercial shipments above $800 require formal CBP entry regardless of mode.

US customs information is for guidance only. Section 301 tariff rates, HTS classifications and CBP requirements are subject to change under US trade policy. Latynex calculates exact duty and tariff amounts for every DDP shipment from your confirmed HTS code — we do not estimate.
