Freight Options

How to Ship From China to UAE

Air and sea freight from any Chinese city to the UAE — both modes available with DDP delivery, certificate of origin and UAE customs clearance handled by Latynex.

Air Freight — 4–8 Days

Direct air freight from Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX) and Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) to Dubai International Airport (DXB). The UAE's proximity to China makes air freight one of the most competitive China–Gulf routes for time-sensitive or high-value cargo.

Sea Freight — 18–28 Days

FCL (20ft / 40ft / 40HC) and LCL from Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Yantian/Shekou) and Guangzhou (Nansha) to Jebel Ali Port (JEBEL ALI) — the largest container port in the Middle East and the UAE's main sea gateway. Competitive rates and frequent sailings.

Free Zone Delivery

Delivery to UAE free zones including JAFZA (Jebel Ali Free Zone), DAFZA (Dubai Airport Free Zone), Dubai South Logistics District and Hamriyah Free Zone. Goods stored in free zones are not subject to UAE mainland customs duty until re-exported or cleared into the UAE market.

Amazon UAE / Marketplace

Direct delivery to Amazon.ae fulfilment centres and other UAE marketplace fulfilment hubs. FNSKU labeling, carton compliance and FBA prep completed in our China warehouse. DDP available — UAE import duty and VAT pre-paid by Latynex.

Express — 2–4 Days

Express air courier from Shenzhen or Shanghai to Dubai. Door-to-door delivery in 2–4 working days — suitable for samples, urgent restock, spare parts and time-critical small shipments where standard air freight lead times are insufficient.

DDP — Duty & VAT Pre-Paid

UAE import duty (typically 5%) and UAE VAT (5%) pre-paid by Latynex under DDP. Certificate of origin prepared and filed. Our UAE-based customs broker handles the import declaration — no registration required on your side for DDP shipments.

The Process

How China to UAE Shipping Works

Eight stages from your Chinese supplier to final delivery in the UAE — all managed by Latynex.

China-to-UAE freight involves two customs clearances — export in China and import through the Federal Customs Authority at Jebel Ali or Dubai Airport. A certificate of origin is required for all UAE imports. For free zone deliveries, the customs treatment differs from mainland clearance. Latynex manages all documentation, certificates and customs steps as a single service — no coordination gaps between parties.

1

Quote with cargo details and UAE destination

Send us your supplier's collection address in China, cargo description with HS code if known, weight and dimensions, and your UAE delivery address or free zone. We confirm applicable UAE import duty rate (typically 5% on most goods under the GCC Common Customs Law) and VAT, then send an all-in DDP or DAP quote.

2

Supplier collection from China

Our China-based team collects from your supplier's factory or warehouse anywhere in mainland China. We photograph and count goods at collection. Multi-supplier consolidation is available — we combine cargo from multiple factories into one shipment before export.

3

Certificate of origin and export documentation

A certificate of origin (CO) is required for UAE import. Latynex prepares the CO along with the commercial invoice, packing list and export customs declaration at the Chinese origin. The CO is essential for customs clearance in the UAE — incorrectly issued COs can delay clearance.

4

China export warehouse and FBA or cargo prep

Cargo arrives at our China export warehouse. For marketplace FBA shipments: FNSKU labeling per unit, carton compliance checks and box content preparation. For standard shipments: quantities verified, cargo consolidated, export documentation finalised.

5

Export customs clearance in China

Our China team files the export customs declaration at the origin port or airport. Cargo is cleared for export and loaded onto the agreed vessel or flight. You receive tracking references once the shipment departs China.

6

International freight: air or sea to UAE

Your cargo travels to the UAE via your agreed mode. Air: 4–8 days to Dubai International Airport (DXB). Sea FCL/LCL: 18–28 days to Jebel Ali Port. We provide tracking updates at each milestone.

7

UAE customs clearance at Jebel Ali or Dubai Airport

Our UAE-licensed customs broker files the import declaration with the Federal Customs Authority. For DDP shipments, UAE import duty and VAT are paid on your behalf by Latynex. For free zone deliveries, goods are cleared into the designated free zone under free zone customs treatment — no mainland import duty applies until goods leave the free zone.

8

Final delivery to your UAE address

Cleared cargo is delivered to your specified address: Dubai or Abu Dhabi warehouse, free zone facility, marketplace fulfilment centre, 3PL, or business address anywhere in the UAE. For Amazon.ae and Noon FCs, we manage the delivery appointment and handoff to the fulfilment centre dock.

Transit & Cost

China → UAE: Transit Times and DDP Cost Guide

Indicative all-in DDP rates for the China–UAE corridor — freight, UAE import duty, VAT, certificate of origin, customs handling and last-mile delivery included. Exact quotes depend on cargo details and current market rates.

DDP Cost Guide — China → UAE (DDP, all-in)Indicative ranges
ModeTransitDDP Cost RangeBest For
Air Freight + DDP4–8 days$6–16 / kgUrgent, high-value, low-weight cargo
Sea LCL + DDP22–32 days$2–5 / kgUnder 5 CBM, mixed or flexible cargo
Sea FCL (20ft) + DDP18–28 days$1–3 / kgOver 8 CBM, regular container volume
Express Air2–4 days$18–40 / kgSamples, urgent restock, spare parts

All figures are indicative ranges including freight, UAE import duty (typically 5%), UAE VAT (5%), certificate of origin, customs handling and delivery. Duty rates depend on product HS code and are confirmed before booking. Free zone deliveries may carry different duty treatment. Freight rates vary with market conditions and vessel schedules. Contact Latynex for a specific quote.

Air vs sea for the UAE: The UAE's location makes it one of the shortest major freight corridors from China — sea freight to Jebel Ali takes 18–28 days, roughly half the time of a trans-Pacific voyage. This means sea freight is competitive on transit time even against routes where air is the obvious choice. For importers restocking regularly, sea FCL to Jebel Ali is typically the most cost-effective option. Air freight at 4–8 days is the right choice for new product launches, urgent restocks, sample shipments and high-value goods where financing or time costs justify the premium.

DDP vs DAP

DDP vs DAP Shipping to UAE — What's the Difference?

For most importers without UAE customs infrastructure, DDP is the cleaner choice. Here is how the two Incoterms compare for China–UAE shipments.

DDP — Latynex Pre-Pays All
DAP — Buyer Manages Import
UAE customs declaration filed by
Latynex (our UAE broker)
Buyer (appoint own broker)
UAE import duty (typically 5%)
Pre-paid by Latynex
Billed to buyer on arrival
UAE VAT (5%)
Pre-paid by Latynex
Separate payment on arrival
Certificate of origin arranged
Prepared by Latynex
Buyer must arrange with supplier
Total landed cost known upfront
Yes — single all-in quote
No — freight separate from duties
Free zone customs treatment
Available under DDP
Available under DAP
UAE importer registration needed
No
Yes — UAE trade licence may be needed
Best when
First UAE import, no UAE customs broker, FBA or marketplace delivery
Established UAE importer with own customs broker and trade licence

UAE import duty and VAT under DDP are paid by Latynex upfront as part of the all-in landed cost. UAE VAT-registered businesses may be able to reclaim import VAT on their UAE VAT return — the same reclaim mechanism applies whether you ship DDP or DAP. Consult your UAE VAT adviser for confirmation on your specific position.

UAE Customs

Importing Into the UAE — What You Need to Know

A practical guide to UAE import requirements for businesses shipping from China — duties, VAT, free zones and certificate of origin explained.

UAE Import Duty — GCC Common Customs Law

The UAE applies import duties under the GCC Common Customs Law. The standard rate is 5% of the CIF (cost + insurance + freight) value for most goods. Some categories are exempt (e.g. certain food commodities and medical equipment). Alcohol and tobacco attract significantly higher rates. We confirm your product's applicable rate from the HS code before any DDP quote.

UAE VAT — 5% on Imports

The UAE introduced VAT at 5% in January 2018. Import VAT applies to goods cleared into the UAE mainland at the point of customs entry. Goods delivered to UAE free zones may be treated differently — VAT may be suspended until goods exit the free zone into the mainland market. UAE VAT-registered businesses can typically reclaim import VAT on their VAT return.

Free Zones — JAFZA, DAFZA, Dubai South

UAE free zones are designated areas where goods can be stored, processed or re-exported without incurring UAE mainland import duty. Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) is one of the world's largest and most used for China-origin cargo. Goods in a free zone only attract UAE duty and VAT when they are transferred into the UAE mainland market. Free zone delivery is available under both DDP and DAP.

Certificate of Origin

A certificate of origin is required for import into the UAE. For goods from China, this is typically a non-preferential certificate of origin issued by the relevant Chinese chamber of commerce at the point of export. Missing or incorrectly issued certificates of origin can delay customs clearance at Jebel Ali or Dubai Airport. Latynex arranges the CO as part of every export documentation package.

UAE customs information is for guidance only. Duty rates, VAT treatment for free zones, and certificate of origin requirements can vary by product, emirate and free zone authority. Latynex calculates exact duty and tax amounts for every DDP shipment from your confirmed HS code — we do not estimate. This page is for general orientation and does not constitute legal, customs or tax advice.

Dubai Delivery

Shipping From China to Dubai Warehouses & Marketplaces

Latynex delivers from China directly to Dubai warehouses, free zone facilities and UAE marketplace fulfilment centres.

Dubai & UAE Warehouse Delivery

We deliver to commercial warehouses in Dubai, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and across the UAE. Pallet delivery with liftgate or dock appointment can be arranged. For businesses consolidating China-origin stock in Dubai before regional distribution, our sea FCL to Jebel Ali service is the standard choice.

JAFZA and Free Zone Facilities

Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) is one of the world's largest free zones and co-located with Jebel Ali Port — making it a natural destination for sea freight from China. Goods delivered to JAFZA are stored without UAE mainland duty. Latynex handles the free zone entry documentation and coordinates delivery to your JAFZA unit or warehouse.

Amazon.ae and Noon Fulfilment

We deliver to Amazon UAE (Amazon.ae) and Noon fulfilment centres in Dubai. This includes FNSKU or platform labeling in our China warehouse, carton compliance, UAE customs clearance under DDP and delivery appointment coordination at the FC. Transit from China to FC receipt: approximately 7–14 days (air) or 22–35 days (sea).

Multi-Market Dubai Hub Strategy

Dubai is increasingly used as a regional distribution hub for brands serving the GCC, East Africa and South Asia. Goods arrive from China into Jebel Ali, are stored in JAFZA, then re-exported to regional markets without incurring UAE mainland duty. Latynex can advise on the logistics of this approach.
