Calculator

Enter Your Shipment Details

Destination, goods value and duty rate are required. Freight, insurance and VAT rate can be adjusted — VAT auto-fills from your destination but stays editable.

Not sure which Incoterm applies? The customs value below is calculated as goods value + freight + insurance regardless of Incoterm — just make sure you're not entering a cost twice if it's already included in your goods value.

Estimated duty rate: Enter the customs duty rate applicable to your product. Duty depends on product classification, origin and destination. This calculator does not determine the legally correct HS or tariff rate.

Select a destination and enter goods value and duty rate (0–100) to continue.

Methodology

How the Calculation Works

Transparent arithmetic — every step shown, nothing hidden in a black box.

Customs Value

Goods value + freight + insurance. This is the base both duty and VAT are calculated from.

Estimated Duty

Customs value × the duty rate you enter. We don't derive this rate for you.

VAT Base

Customs value + estimated duty — VAT is calculated on this combined figure, not on goods value alone.

Indicative Landed Cost

Customs value + estimated duty + estimated VAT — before destination/local charges (see below).

Scope

What This Figure Does — and Doesn't — Include

The indicative landed cost covers customs value, duty and VAT only.

Included

  • • Goods value you entered
  • • Freight and insurance you entered
  • • Estimated duty (from your rate)
  • • Estimated import VAT (nominal amount)

Not Included

  • • Destination/terminal charges
  • • Customs broker fees
  • • Storage
  • • Last-mile delivery
  • • Inspections or compliance/testing
  • • Unexpected customs adjustments

VAT

How Import VAT Is Estimated

Import VAT is calculated on customs value plus duty — not on goods value alone.

This calculator shows the nominal estimated VAT amount — (customs value + estimated duty) × VAT rate. It does not tell you whether that VAT is ultimately recoverable, or how it's accounted for in a specific country (for example, postponed/self-assessed import VAT mechanisms that some countries use). Those mechanics are explained on the relevant country route page — this tool only estimates the amount, not how or when it's ultimately payable or reclaimable.
