Used containers at Budapest: a neutral terminal on Csepel island

MAHART Container Center describes itself as a neutral, Hungarian-owned terminal on the Danube, where container handling on the site goes back to 1969. The terminal's own pages, several of them undated, list equipment down to the number of reach stackers, which makes this a place that can be described precisely.

Rail, barge and road on one site

The terminal calls itself a trimodal hub and lists loading tracks of 690 and 300 metres and a quay wall on the Danube. A lot here can in principle move by any of the three modes. Which one is used is agreed per deal, with the parties, not by us.

Empties and repairs

The terminal lists four handlers built for empty containers, a repair workshop and a customs inspection area, as well as a store for dangerous goods containers. It states storage for 7,200 TEU, loaded and empty. We do not run any of this; we ask where a lot stands and in what condition.

Figures to read with care

The 2013 volume on the terminal's history page is more than ten years old and the equipment page is undated, so we show both as the operator's statements and not as current traffic. A buyer should ask the owner for dated details of the actual lot.

Owners and buyers in Hungary

Owners name type, quantity and the date a unit can be released. Buyers in and around Budapest register what they need and how far they can collect. A lot is shared only when it is a concrete match and the owner has agreed.
