Selling and sourcing used containers in Riga
The Freeport of Riga Authority names two largest container terminals in the port, and says most sea containers in Latvia are handled at Kundziņsala. For anyone with equipment in Riga that narrows the map: two terminals, mostly on one part of the port.
Two terminals to name
Baltic Container Terminal and Riga Universal Terminal are described by the port authority as the two largest. We act for neither. A lot must be tied to one, and the release date and terminal rules are the first things we ask, because they decide how long a buyer can be sought.
Record volumes, no stock
The port reports 501.9 thousand TEU for 2024, its highest ever. That describes traffic, not equipment for sale, and we hold none. What it does mean is that owners have more chances to find themselves with idle used, one-way or SOC boxes, and this page is where they can report them.
A longer quay for bigger ships
The port says the quay line at Baltic Container Terminal was extended and now totals 506.3 metres, allowing ships up to 340 metres. Larger ships mean larger lots may arrive at once, so early reporting matters more, not less.
Riga and the coast to the south
Klaipėda lies a manageable distance away in Lithuania and has its own page. We compare the actual distance to Klaipėda before suggesting it and show that distance to the reviewer.
