Selling and sourcing used containers at Genoa
Ports of Genoa reports three million TEU for 2025 and separates them: gateway containers, which end up with consignees in Italy, and transhipment, which moves on by ship. For equipment resale the gateway share is the one that matters, because those boxes are the ones that come to rest.
Gateway and transhipment
The port authority reports about 1.9 million TEU of full gateway containers and about 0.55 million of transhipment. Boxes in transit are not for sale here; a gateway box that is emptied in Italy may be. We ask which kind a lot is.
A terminal with its own rail yard
The port describes the Pra' terminal with a 1,675 m quay, twelve quay cranes, 978 reefer plugs and rail facilities of eight tracks. We do not act for it. A lot inland leaves by road or rail, agreed per deal.
Owners and buyers
Owners report one-way, SOC, off-hire, used or damaged containers with quantity and release date. Buyers in Liguria, Piedmont or Lombardy register a type, a quantity range and how far they can collect. We do not show lots in advance.
Reefers
Since the terminal lists reefer plugs, refrigerated units are a realistic thing to report. They are taken as requests; we say honestly whether we can help and never promise a fit.
