Storage stays temporary, reuse is the goal

The Polish government business portal describes a temporary storage declaration that is filed no later than when goods are presented at the customs office, and EU rules limit temporary storage to 90 days before goods must be placed under a procedure or re-exported. Those rules are for you and your customs agent; what we add is an earlier route to a local buyer, so the container is not left waiting.

• Under EU customs rules (Art. 149 UCC), goods in temporary storage must be placed under a customs procedure or re-exported after 90 days.
• In Poland, a temporary storage declaration (DSK) is filed through AIS/IMPORT PLUS via the PUESC portal no later than when goods are presented at the customs office.
• Poland has been an EU member state since 1 May 2004 and in Schengen since 21 December 2007 (EU country profile).

• The Port of Gdańsk has a 17 m deep deepwater fairway allowing drafts up to 15 m; Inner Port max draft 10.6 m, Outer Port 15.0 m.

• According to the Port of Gdańsk Authority, the port is a marine gateway to Central and Eastern Europe for Asian shipping routes.
• Imported goods can be stored in the Port of Gdańsk Duty Free Zone without customs guarantees, quotas, duty and tax, for an unlimited period.
• Hutchison Ports became owner of 19.6 hectares of dockyard land at Bulgarian Quay in the Port of Gdynia in 2005 (GCT).
• GCT Gdynia has an 812 m handling quay: 447 m at 13.5 m depth, 281 m at 11 m, 84 m at 9.5 m.
• GCT Gdynia has a 19.6 ha area, 12,500 TEU max storage capacity, 514 reefer positions, and a railway siding with tracks totalling over 1,523 m usable length.
• Baltic Container Terminal Ltd. (Gdynia) is listed among ICTSI's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
• According to Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), its current annual cargo handling capacity is 1 million TEU.
• According to BCT, its rail terminal has three rail tracks, each 670 m long.
• According to BCT, the terminal has 600 positions for reefer containers.
